Each school year, one or two parents from each classroom volunteers to serve as Room Parent(s). Room Parents help teachers with various tasks throughout the year including sharing important information with fellow parents via email, helping with school events and recruiting other parents to help as needed (as requested by each teacher).
Art and Garden ALIVE! Docents Needed
What is a Garden ALIVE! Docent? A Docent is a level-3 volunteer cleared with the district (finger printed, TB test, and a volunteer application/training). A Garden Docent is a parent/caretaker volunteer trained by TJE's Garden/Science ALIVE Program Coordinator who will teach weekly garden lessons directly to students in their teachers class. These weekly lessons are provided to all Docents ahead of time and the Docent will lead the lesson in the outdoor Garden Space or indoors due to weather conditions.
What is an Art ALIVE! Docent? Art Docents are also level-3 cleared volunteers and are trained by TJE's Art ALIVE Program Coordinator. Art Docents receive bi-weekly art projects from the Coordinator that the Docent will teach and facilitate with the entire classroom they volunteer with. This all takes place in TJE's art room.
Classroom Reading, Math or Computer Helper - help your classroom teacher during school hours Grant Writing - help our PTA pursue school grants, e.g., technology grants Flyer Printing - do you have access to a color printer? We would love help printing event flyers and newsletters Book Fair - help with our annual book fair Event Support - e.g., help us sell pizza at a future event like Family Dance Night or chair the planning committee for the Gala!
