​Garden & Science Alive!

At TJE, all student gets hands-on Garden and Science instruction every other week through PTA-funded Garden & Science Alive! 

The PTA pays the salary of our Garden & Science Alive! coordinator who curates a year-long curriculum, keeps supplies stocked and organized, and works with and trains volunteer docents. The PTA also provides funds to stock our Garden shed and Science Lab, and purchases NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) integrated science curriculum - enabling kids to do hands-on gardening and science experiments during the school day.

Children visit the Garden or the Science Lab every other week. (Half the class is in the Garden with volunteer garden docents while the other half is in the Science Lab with their teacher.)

Because these programs exist, students get to participate in the growing process from planting to harvesting, feed chickens, learn about pollination, composting and  sustainability, and so much more! We hope to spark curiosity or enthusiasm for gardening, taking care of outdoor spaces, and scientific ideas and discovery that will last a lifetime.

These programs are 100% funded by the PTA and can only sustain with YOUR support. Come check out our what's growing in our Garden the next time you are on campus for a school event!
